Shortcut Options

Here are some of the handy Facebook features you can add as shortcuts:

  • Photos – Quickly access your profile photos and albums.
  • Friends – Jump to your friends list.
  • Events – View upcoming events and calendar.
  • Saved – Manage your saved items.
  • Pages – Access Pages you manage as an admin.
  • Fundraisers – Manage and donate to fundraisers.

The default shortcuts like News Feed, Messenger, Watch, Marketplace and Groups cannot be removed. You can only rearrange them or replace them with other shortcuts.

On iOS, you are limited to 6 shortcuts. Android allows you to set up to 8 shortcuts in the bar.

Change the Number of Tabs

By default, the Facebook app shows 5 tabs on the shortcut bar. If you want to display more tabs:

  • iOS – Unfortunately it’s not possible to show more than 5 tabs on iPhone and iPad.
  • Android – Go to Settings > Your Shortcuts. Toggle “Use tabs” to off. This will display all your shortcuts as icons instead of tabs.

Reset Shortcuts

To reset the shortcuts back to default on the Facebook app:

  • iOS – Go to Settings > Shortcuts > Reset Shortcuts at the bottom.
  • Android – Go to Settings > Your Shortcuts > Reset Shortcuts at the bottom.

This will revert the shortcut bar back to the original News Feed, Messenger, Watch, Marketplace and Menu tabs.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The Facebook app also supports some handy keyboard shortcuts to quickly navigate the app on your mobile device.

On iOS, press and hold the emoji button to reveal the keyboard shortcuts overlay. On Android, press and hold the Enter button.

Useful Facebook keyboard shortcuts include:

  • N – Go to News Feed
  • M – Open Messenger
  • P – Go to your profile
  • C – Open photos
  • S – Open search

Keyboard shortcuts provide an efficient way to quickly jump between sections, in addition to the bottom shortcut bar.

Conclusion

Customizing the shortcut bar allows you to tailor the Facebook app to your usage patterns. Add the features you access most often for quick navigation.

The ability to edit shortcuts is available on both iOS and Android devices. Just go to the Settings menu and look for the Shortcuts or Your Shortcuts option.

Try rearranging and adding new shortcuts to boost your productivity when using Facebook on mobile!
